  • Director of the research project on "Juridical Forms of Cooperation between Enterprises" (1993-95). Funded by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Research (JNICT).
  • Director of the research project on "The Economic and Social Councils in the Portuguese Administration" (1992-95). Funded by the Gulbenkian Fondation.
  • Scientific coordinator of the research project on "The Court System in the Portuguese Society", directed by Prof. Boaventura Santos (1991-94). Funded by the Portuguese Minister of Justice.
  • Coordinator of the network on "Concurrence et Consommation", envolving several European and South-American Universities. Funded by European Commission. Alfa Program.
  • Co-coordinator of the research project on “A Administração da Justiça em Moçambique” (Justice Administration in Mozambique), funded by Instituto da Cooperação and DANIDA (1996-2000).
  • Scientific coordinator of the research project on “O endividamento dos consumidores em Portugal” (Consumer Indebtedness in Portugal), funded by Instituto do Consumidor (1997-1999).


Publications (2004 - 1990) – Fields covered:
Several publications, edited by national and international editors, which mainly cover the following fields: European and International Economic Law – in particular free trade principles, public enterprises and enterprises charged with services of general interest, indebtedness and overindebtednes –, Competition Law, Civil Law, Constitutional Law, Consumer Law, Business Law and Sociology of consumption.
